Shifts

New Dawn AFC Home is a 24/7 Facility.  

Morning: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Evening: 4:00 pm -12:00 am

Midnight: 12:00 am - 8:00 am

Floating Schedule for Weekends and Midnight Shift

​

Role Description

This is for 3 Full-time and 1 Floating position on-site role as a Direct Care Worker at New Dawn AFC Home, LLC in Detroit, MI. As a Direct Care Worker, you will be responsible for providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Your day-to-day tasks may include assisting with personal care, administering medication, accompanying individuals to appointments, meal preparation, and facilitating social activities.

Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 1 year previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is required.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and protocols

  • Compassionate and patient demeanor

  • Must pass a background check

  • CPR & First Aid Certifications

Rate of Pay up to $14.00 per hour

​

All Employees of New Dawn AFC Home must have the following training.

To comply with certification Rule 330.1806(2)(3)(4) direct care staff providing resident care must be trained using either the approved curriculum, "Providing Residential Services in Community Settings: A Training Guide" or an approved alternative curriculum.The

 

Providing Residential Services in Community Settings training is listed below, identified by specific modules/topics:

A. Introduction to Community Residential Services - Your Roles as Direct Care Staff

B. Recipient Rights Module (Revised 7/09)

C. Working with People: Introduction to Human Needs, Values, Guiding Principals, and Effective Teaching Strategies

D. Nutrition and Food Service

E. Environmental Emergencies: Preventing, Preparing, and Responding

F. Working with People: Positive Techniques to Address Challenging Behavior

G. Basic Health and Medications

H. Advanced Health and Medications

I. Responding to Life Threatening Situations: CPR and First Aid Requirements
